Marquez to Join Gresini Racing MotoGP in 2023
Partnership with Di Giannantonio on Ducati
Official Announcement by Gresini Racing Team
The Gresini Racing MotoGP squad has announced that two-time World Champion Alex Marquez will join the team in 2023, partnering Fabio Di Giannantonio on a Ducati. Marquez, the younger brother of six-time MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez, has spent the past four seasons with the LCR Honda team, securing two podium finishes during that time.
Marquez's move to Gresini Racing marks a significant shift in his career, as he will be riding a Ducati for the first time. The Italian manufacturer has been a dominant force in MotoGP in recent years, winning the Constructors' Championship in 2022 and 2023 with Francesco Bagnaia securing the riders' title in 2022.
Gresini Racing is a long-established team in MotoGP, with a rich history dating back to the 1990s. The team has enjoyed success with riders such as Sete Gibernau, Marco Melandri, and Toni Elias. In recent years, Gresini Racing has been a satellite team for Aprilia, but will switch to Ducati machinery for 2023.
The signing of Marquez is a major coup for Gresini Racing, who is looking to re-establish itself as a top contender in MotoGP. Marquez is a proven race winner with a wealth of experience in the premier class. His partnership with Di Giannantonio, who is entering his second season in MotoGP, could prove to be a formidable one.
